Description of Curriculum
The NETwork Against Malaria Curriculum strives to educate students more fully about Uganda, malaria, NETwork Against Malaria, and the impact students can have upon their world.  NETwork has provided lesson ideas for teachers interested in incorporating NETwork into other areas of their students' learning.
Science
For science classes, we recommend viewing a presentation made by NETwork Against Malaria.  It shows images and facts about animals who call Uganda home.  This presentation is accompanied by a quiz/worksheet and an answer sheet.  For more advanced classes, students can read the Malaria page of the website and view the life stages of mosquitoes download. Students can learn about the circulatory system and the affects malaria has upon it.  They can play informational games that teach about malaria.

Social Studies
In this lesson, students would learn about the geography and basic cultural facts of Uganda.  They would learn about climate and landforms.  They would learn about holidays, type of government, symbols, languages, etc.

Reading/Literature
For reading/literature classes, we recommend reading Ugandan folk stories.  NETwork has made quizzes/worksheets and answer keys to accompany some of these stories.
English
For English students can view a presentation then write their own Ugandan fables based off famous Ugandan proverbs.

Math
For math class, lower grade level students can use addition sheets, subtraction sheets, multiplication sheets, division sheets, and word problems.

Computers
For a computer/internet based activity, students can do a scavenger hunt on the website or visit the link section to play informational games about malaria.

Art
For art classes, NETwork has created a slide show that shows traditional Ugandan baskets.  There is a short, simple explanation and example pictures.  Students can then create a design for a basket on a coloring page download.  There is also a Ugandan flag coloring page download and a download that discusses the life stages of mosquitos.
Spelling
For Spelling Class, NETwork has made list of relevant words for students to study and activities to accompany these.  They are broken down by grade level.
